Gruene Coffee Haus

 






When the weather is nice, there are very few places that rival Gruene Coffee Haus to sit outside and get some work done. During the day on a weekday, Gruene isn't nearly as busy as in the evening or on the weekends. It's downright peaceful in the morning. Gruene Coffee Haus has good coffee and a friendly staff. The indoor seating area is on the small side but you can usually get a seat if you want to sit inside. There is a lovely patio outside that has good shade and is quite comfortable. 

Food: They have a lot of good pastries to choose from. For lunch, Adobe Verde is right next door is you want something to eat. They have good lunch specials for around $10.     

Privacy: Just a few people around. You can sit at your own table and no one will bother you.  

Public Restroom: Available and clean.   

Available seating: Limited inside. There is good outdoor seating on the patio.  

Outlets: There are more inside. If you're outside, there is an outlet in the back corner next to the do water station.     

WiFi: Free and available. It does extend to the patio area but can be a bit weak. I did do a zoom meeting from there the other day. 

Noise Level: Outside is generally quite peaceful with just a few conversations going on around you.

 In my never-ending search for new places to work, I stumbled upon this new hidden gem in Downtown NB. It's called the Chapter & Co. On their F acebook page , it looks like it's more of a clothing boutique and bookstore, and it is those things, but it's also a super comfy and cozy coffee shop with some very nice places to sit and do some work while enjoying a cup of coffee.  The shop is right next to the Brauntex Theater in a building that's been renovated but has kept all of its old charm. They have both an upstairs and downstairs with lots of places to sit. I found a nice little table upstairs with a view of the street.  You get a nice bonus if you're into fantasy/romance books as they have shelves full of books you can buy. There's also a full shower. If that sounds weird, well, it is weird. Tipsy Cow Walnut

Did you know the famous Tipsy Cow ice cream shop has a 2nd location on Walnut? They're open early (7am) and they serve coffee! It's in a new store at a great location on the east side where a few good coffee shops are sorely needed IMO. When I went, on a Monday morning, the shop was empty which is really a tragedy. I'm really hoping they do well.  Coffee: They are a bit limited on the classic coffee items. They do an Americano and that's about it for the non-sweet options. However, they have all the stuff I like, Mocha, Carmel Macchiato, and several specialty lattes with a rock and roll theme. I got the Blondie and it was honestly delicious. I'm really looking forward to trying more of their specialty drinks.  Food: No food items, but they have all the ice cream you could ever want.  Privacy: They have a corner spot that's perfect for one person to do some work. Kinnor Coffee

  The mysterious Kinnor Coffee just opened up a stand alone shop in New Braunfels and it is beautiful. For those that don't know, Kinnor has a location at 5 Stones Brewery. They were only open on weekends and were a little hard to find. I tried to find it several times and failed before finally discovering it (it's a great place to work outside when the weather is nice). But now, we can enjoy this excellent coffee in this awesome coffee shop during the week, AND it's in a great location, Castell Ave just down the street from Krause's (going away from downtown).  Coffee: They have some of the best coffee in New Braunfels. If you like coffee, they have something you'll love here. For an iced latte lover like me, the have an excellent list of specialty lattes. I got the butterscotch iced latte and it was great.
