The Chapter & Co.

In my never-ending search for new places to work, I stumbled upon this new hidden gem in Downtown NB. It's called the Chapter & Co. On their Facebook page, it looks like it's more of a clothing boutique and bookstore, and it is those things, but it's also a super comfy and cozy coffee shop with some very nice places to sit and do some work while enjoying a cup of coffee.

The shop is right next to the Brauntex Theater in a building that's been renovated but has kept all of its old charm. They have both an upstairs and downstairs with lots of places to sit. I found a nice little table upstairs with a view of the street.

You get a nice bonus if you're into fantasy/romance books as they have shelves full of books you can buy. There's also a full shower. If that sounds weird, well, it is weird. Stop by and see if you can find it.

I'm definitely going to add this to my regular visit routine.

Coffee: This is my first time here, so I haven't been able to get the full experience, but I really enjoyed my lavender latte. Not too sweet with some lovely lavender notes. They have a full menu of classic coffee and tea.  I'm looking forward to trying some more of the drinks on the menu.

- Update, they have a signature drink menu including a barista's choice option. I tried that option and got an excellent latte.

- Update 6-3-25 Try their pina colada matcha!!

Food: I didn't see any food for sale. If that changes, I'll let you know.

- Update 6-3-25: They generally have a few pastries for sale. They are planning on putting in a full kitchen at some point! If they offer a breakfast sandwich, I'll be there like every day.

Privacy: The spot I found upstairs was very private. Only a handful of people came up there while I was working. Downstairs is a fairly normal coffee shop with the normal amount of privacy you would find at most shops.

Restroom: They have one restroom. I've never had a wait to get into it. It's very cool and vintage looking.

Available seating: There isn't a lot of seating, but there's enough for now. I'm guessing it will be much harder to find a seat when they get more popular. There are several comfortable couches and chairs along with the normal hard chairs for those of us who are getting some work done.

- Update: They have gotten more popular and it is hard to find a seat sometimes. Get there early and it's not a problem. I do wish they had more tables upstairs.

Outlets:  I didn't see many outlets, but there was an outlet right next to my seat upstairs.

WiFi: They do have wifi. It can be a little spotty at times, but it works.

Noise Level: There's no music playing. Just the faint sounds of people having conversations. It was a perfect place for those of us who like a little background noise as we work.
