2 Rivers Coffee



 
2 Rivers is a coffee shop on the loop near NB High School. It's a busy shop with friendly employees and an atmosphere that's part hip coffee shop and part dance club. 

This shop is generally fairly busy when I get here, but it usually thins out by about 9 or 10 am. (Update 11/7/24, it's always busy :)) The seating is limited, but I always find a seat. They play laid back dance music. It's slightly on the loud side, but I don't mind it. 

If you have a group, you can actually reserve their conference table that's located in the front of the shop for meetings, study sessions, etc.  

If you live in NB and like to work in coffee shops, this place should be in your regular rotation. 


tip: On your first visit, make sure to tell them it's your first time. When I did that, they gave me a full loyalty card so I could get a free drink on my next visit. 


Coffee: The coffee is good quality. Their latte is less sweet than I normally find. It's definitely more coffee forward with the flavors more in the background.  They have a bunch of really cool specialty drinks.  


Food: They have the normal coffee shop pastries.  

Privacy: Normal for any coffee shop. It's a fairly busy shop.  

Restroom: Available and clean.      

Available seating: They have limited indoor seating. It's not too hard to get a seat usually.  

Outlets: There are quite a few outlets all over the shop. I've never had trouble finding a place to plug in.       
WiFi: Available and works well. No problems.  

Noise Level: The music in on the loud side. This makes the conversation quite loud as well.

 In my never-ending search for new places to work, I stumbled upon this new hidden gem in Downtown NB. It's called the Chapter & Co. On their F acebook page , it looks like it's more of a clothing boutique and bookstore, and it is those things, but it's also a super comfy and cozy coffee shop with some very nice places to sit and do some work while enjoying a cup of coffee.  The shop is right next to the Brauntex Theater in a building that's been renovated but has kept all of its old charm. They have both an upstairs and downstairs with lots of places to sit. I found a nice little table upstairs with a view of the street.  You get a nice bonus if you're into fantasy/romance books as they have shelves full of books you can buy. There's also a full shower. If that sounds weird, well, it is weird. Tipsy Cow Walnut

Did you know the famous Tipsy Cow ice cream shop has a 2nd location on Walnut? They're open early (7am) and they serve coffee! It's in a new store at a great location on the east side where a few good coffee shops are sorely needed IMO. When I went, on a Monday morning, the shop was empty which is really a tragedy. I'm really hoping they do well.  Coffee: They are a bit limited on the classic coffee items. They do an Americano and that's about it for the non-sweet options. However, they have all the stuff I like, Mocha, Carmel Macchiato, and several specialty lattes with a rock and roll theme. I got the Blondie and it was honestly delicious. I'm really looking forward to trying more of their specialty drinks.  Food: No food items, but they have all the ice cream you could ever want.  Privacy: They have a corner spot that's perfect for one person to do some work. Kinnor Coffee

  The mysterious Kinnor Coffee just opened up a stand alone shop in New Braunfels and it is beautiful. For those that don't know, Kinnor has a location at 5 Stones Brewery. They were only open on weekends and were a little hard to find. I tried to find it several times and failed before finally discovering it (it's a great place to work outside when the weather is nice). But now, we can enjoy this excellent coffee in this awesome coffee shop during the week, AND it's in a great location, Castell Ave just down the street from Krause's (going away from downtown).  Coffee: They have some of the best coffee in New Braunfels. If you like coffee, they have something you'll love here. For an iced latte lover like me, the have an excellent list of specialty lattes. I got the butterscotch iced latte and it was great.
