Forty-Six Coffee, Cafe, and Catering

This is my favorite place to work. I stop by here at least once a week. I like it so much that I'm afraid to share it with people because I don't want it to get too busy. This is the Forty-Six cafe. It's located inside of the McKenna children's museum. There are a few reasons why I like it so much.

1. It has a great outdoor sitting area. It's shaded and there are very few people that ever go out there. It has a few outlets I can plug into, and the wifi works well outside. With the number of nice weather days in New Braunfels, a good outdoor working space is essential for me.

2. I love the coffee here. They have one of my favorite lattes ever, the Forty-Sixer. There are also a wide variety of drink options.

3. OMG the food is so good here. The muffins are great. The kolaches as well. AND I've had several lunches here that were just so so good. From the regular menu, I like to get the buffalo chicken sandwich. They also have regular specials that rotate. One of my favorites is the boudin egg rolls with gumbo. I also love their club sandwich. When I order food, they bring it out to me on the patio and I just sit and enjoy.

4. The staff here is awesome. It's a coffee shop so the front counter turnover is pretty regular, but they always hire great people. I've had some of the best conversations with the people who take my order and make my coffee.

They also have a nice seating area inside the shop as well as additional seating in the hallway going toward the museum. The only real con for me is that they don't open until 9am. Most days I try to start work around 8 or 8:30.

Coffee: This is some of my favorite coffee in town.

Food: Love the food here. You have to try the muffins, and the lunch specials are great. I do wish they had a breakfast sandwich option.

Privacy: Most of the time the outdoor seating area is empty. If done many Zoom meetings out there. Inside is rarely busy as well, but can be a bit busy if there is a conference going on. Lunch time can be a little busy as well depending on the day.

Public Restroom: A large restroom with a door a the entrance to the museum and a door at the coffee shop. It's always clean.

Available seating: There's always seating outside. Usually there is plenty of available seating inside depending on if there is a conference going or not.

Outlets: The available outlets are a little limited. There are two next to each other in the shop itself on the far wall. Note: don't use the orange outlet. Down the hall there are two. They don't mind if you move the tables a bit for access. Outside there are 3. Two on the poles on one in the wall.

WiFi: Public WiFi is available and works well.

Noise Level: Quiet to moderate. There is music playing in the shop usually and sometimes there is general coffee shop noise. Outside is quiet with some bird sounds and occasional human sounds.

Like I said, I go here at least once a week. I've found that I can be very productive here. It's comfortable and has everything I need.
